Th-th-that’s ALL, Folks! (Or, Ending a Shroud Run with a Bang)

So, Tyrs Paladium makes another successful run at The Shroud.

We punish the portals.

We terrorize the occupants of the maze and destroy its four denizens.

We solve the many puzzles and, despite the prismatic wall appearing and spinning about, conquer the third area.

When Arrietreikos shows up, it takes three rounds to slay him and his friends (don’t judge us!) but we prevailed.

We initiated a new guildmate by having him attempt to get our “bonus chest” as we entered the final fight.

After a time, Arrietreikos falls one last time, and the guild collects most of their loot shortly before we all exploded.

Wait…what? Explode?

As a few us waited about as they rolled for a Large Devil Scale I was donating, somebody drank a Potion of Wonder.

I nickname them “Potions of WTF” since you have no damn idea what the things will do. I give any I find to our guild leader and warn her to drink them far, far away from me.

Not long ago, somebody at Turbine thought it would be funny to add one effect to a Potion of Wonder: Detonation Pack.

You remember. You find them in the Lordsmarch quest “Undermine” and in the Cannith adventure, “Blown to Bits.”

The result?

Nuke the party while they loot. It’s the only way to be sure.

The Potion of Wonder detonated and vaporized the looting party.

I couldn’t help but laugh like crazy as we tried to revive ourselves and the person who drank the potion confessed and apologized much.

Talk about ending your raid with a bang.

*looks at Acanthia’s and Tirae’s healthy stashes of Potions of WTF*

Man, I gotta start using those things instead of saving them!

πŸ™‚ lucky for u guys this happened when things were solvable. On Orien I’ve heard stories of ppl wiping ip raid parties, where u’ll have to restart. Or while looting in citw. Ppl are usually very angry.

First time I ran Undermine, one of the players set a mine under the final chest, in the guise of opening it. And then STAYED THERE to get blown up with all of us. Simply to sell the prank.

Fortunately, a guildy of his knew what was going on, and so had his arti’s dog parked well back to collect out stones to carry to the shrine.

That happening from a Potion of WTF at the end of a raid is even better, though.

No, it was on G-land in a guild-only run. We’re full of jokers and not enough Batmen. πŸ™‚

Ahh cool – though i kinda guessed it might not have been re-reading the thing since i set mine off just *before* the altar had been clicked & there were 11 soulstones plus me dancing in one of the pools πŸ™‚

Oh. You are EVIL. Did you pass on your Orienmail address to Aaretriekos so he can get some pointers from you? πŸ˜€

I know, but it was still hilarious – the trick is to listen for that sudden hissing, then get the hell outta there if you do πŸ™‚ but those potions are addictive, and at only 25tp for 25 of the things, when VIPs get 500 points per month…. *evil cackle*

Wait…you can BUY these things!? The specific explody-ones?

              That’s NOT right…

Not the specific explody ones, any regular potion of wonder (not offensive/defensive ones) regardless of store bought or looted rolls on the effects table when its drunk & has 1 of the 100+ effects, which can be anything from explody to a single ham appearing to SP, heal, restos, various spell effects & special buffs which u normally get in the challenges like quad damage, +200 spellpower for 20secs, hate magnet etc.

Risky in some places, but just remove yourself from proximity to the party if you’re gambling on a nice buff mid-quest πŸ™‚

πŸ™‚ In a recent run, the incident I described is now commemorated after everyone’s looted (and warned) by several party members binge-drinking the things by the altar…
